Camino de Santiago Day 9: Logroño

Wine festival!!

Well our first 17+ mile day is in the books. I woke up early this morning and hit the road around 7AM. I knew it was going to be a long day, so best to get an early start. On my way out of town, I was mesmerized by the gorgeous moon setting in the western sky.

I walked about 8 miles this morning by myself and only passing or being passed by another pilgrim every now and again. Around mile 8, I was so happy to see my friends Hillary, Hannah and Geraint (yes, I finally learned how to spell it) sneaking up on me.

We had a great walk together today. We collected delicious food along the way like fresh fig, grapes, delicious bread and cheese … and had an incredible lunch in Viana.

After lunch we pressed on another 7 miles and made it to Logroño just in time for some tapas and wine. Although the wine festival officially starts about two hours after my pilgrim bedtime, we were still able to partake a bit. We had a great dinner with Steve and Barbara; two incredible friends that I will miss tomorrow as they stay behind in Logroño to finish off the wine and tapas.

Tomorrow is another 17+ mile day, but now that I have one under my belt, I know I can do another.

Goodnight everyone! Buen Camino!
