One step at a time
Today’s walk from Puenta la Reina to Estella was gorgeous! Waking up this morning I couldn’t quite figure out where I was - it took me a moment to remember what lay ahead of me today. My walk today was 13.6 miles and was a hilly way up and down through quaint Spanish towns.
Since it’s Sunday, church bells rang in every town we walked through. A very unsubtle but beautiful reminder why we are here.

Today I spent most of my time with Bill from Tennessee and my dear friend Natalie. Bill and I talked about US politics. Coming from similar upbringings and landing on separate sides of the aisle, we had a brilliant conversation about what makes us different and similar and how both sides should work together for the common good of our nation. Natalie and I finished the day together, ducking into cathedrals as we passed them and winding the hills onward to our destination.
Tonight was finished off the best way I know how: wine, good food and great company.
Today was challenging as my legs and feet certainly hurt a lot. However, I recognize that everyone is dealing with their own ailments and concerns and it’s important that we listen to our bodies and take it at our own pace. I plan to head to Los Arcos tomorrow - but I also may take a rest day here in Estella. A decision I won’t make until the morning. Tonight I am sleeping at Hostel La Rue - which sits on top of the Camino on the river.
Until then … Buen Camino!
Sweet dreams! 💛
Rest my dear, you are in my heart!
